Christmas gifts and decorations are steadily taking over the shops. It’s only a short matter of time until we hear Mariah Carey blasting in every store.

It’s time to put on our Christmas jumpers, start (or finish) the Christmas shopping and get in the festive spirit. If there’s one thing that will get you in a Christmassy mood, it’s a Christmas Market.

The North East has plenty of festive markets to discover, here’s a list of the best day coach trips to Christmas Markets:

Harrogate Christmas Fair

Located In the historic market square, with over two hundred stalls of goodies. The perfect place to start the Christmas shopping with a selection of unique handmade gifts on sale.

Little ones can enjoy a visit to Santa’s grotto, whilst older visitors may indulge with a glass of mulled wine in the Food and Drink Marque.

Harrogate in the snow

York, St Nicholas Fayre

Just walking through York’s famous Shambles feels festive, so it’s no surprise that it hosts one of the most popular Christmas markets in the country.

Relish in the festivities, where you’ll even see chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Children can experience good old-fashioned fun on the traditional Helter-Skelter.

York in snow

Christmas Experience at Castle Howard

Whilst not technically a Christmas market, the Christmas Experience at Castle Howard shouldn’t be missed. The house is decorated top-to-toe with Christmas decorations and roaring fires.

Enjoy festive treats in the catering outlets or meet the big man himself in a fantastic grotto. An event that will certainly gain you some brownie points with the kids!

Newcastle International Christmas Market

Back and bigger than ever, what makes Newcastle’s Christmas Market stand out from the crowd is the international element.

Enjoy Christmas stalls and traditions from all over the world, including Bratwurst sausages from Germany, paella from Spain, crepes from France and so much more.

Christmas food market

Barnard Castle and Bowes Museum Christmas Market

One of the last Christmas markets of the season at the famous Bowes museum. Every year the museum hand-picks 80 stalls of the best local food, drink and crafts.

The live music adds to the enchanting experience inside the museum grounds. You even get entry to the museum included in your coach trip ticket.
