Newcastle Upon Tyne

Enjoy a triple threat coach trip to the Baltic Art Centre, Newcastle Quayside Market and Tynemouth on Sunday 27th October!

You can expect a warm welcome as you arrive into Newcastle upon Tyne. As well as being one of the friendliest cities in the UK, Newcastle is the unofficial capital of the North East.

There’s lots to discover from the canny accent to the iconic seven bridges. The central destination is the Quayside, known for picturesque views and energetic bars.

Quayside Market:

On Sundays the Quayside transforms into a vibrant street market. Running alongside the River Tyne, the atmosphere is buzzing with street performers and independent retailers.

A great place to start your Christmas shopping with stalls selling everything from tasty food, homemade trinkets to unique gifts.

The Eye Bridge and Baltic Art Centre

If you decide to cross the famous Eye Bridge, you’ll see the Baltic Art Centre. Previously a flour mill converted into an art museum. The museum displays contemporary art exhibitions.

On the fourth floor there is a viewing terrace, where you can gaze over the River Tyne. From the terrace you can see Newcastle’s famous kittiwake birds – the largest inland colony in the world.

Tynemouth

The day ends with a trip to Tynemouth. A stunning coastal village, known for spectacular scenery with jagged cliffs and sandy beaches.

You cannot miss Tynemouth Castle and Priory, dramatically standing on top of the cliff face overlooking the beach. The historic site dates to the 8th century, although the ruins you’ll find today are from the 11th.

Tynemouth Pier is perfect for embracing the fresh seaside air. You can walk down the 900-metre pier to the beautiful working lighthouse at the end. As well as the scenery Tynemouth has a collection of independent cafes and shops where you can grab cup of tea or do a spot of shopping.
